FOSS / FLOSS - Free Open Source Software / Free and Legal Open Source Software

This is software that really is FREE and LEGAL to download and use.  Most of it is cross-platform, meaning, that regardless of which platform (Windows, Mac, Linus, etc) you use, there is probably a version available for you.  Open Source refers to the idea that software should ne made available for everyone to use. No licenses to purchase. And if you have skills in programming, you can contribute your skills and make modifications to the existing code of the FOSS and improve upon it.  All without the headaches tied to Closed Software, such as Microsoft, Apple and Adobe to name a few.  Below is a highlighted snapshot of a very long list of FOSS/FLOSS for you to view and tryout.  If you want to learn a specific piece of software, YouTube is a great resource to start your journey.

Operating Systems -

Here is a list of Operating Systems which are 100% Free Open Source Software (FOSS). The focus of this list is on alternatives to the two main operating systems who dominate the market place.  These are free to download, but do some research and ask questions prior to installing them. Once you install a new operating system on your computer, you will lose information that is currently on your computer.

This is just a short list of operating systems which are Linux-based, which also happens to be FOSS. For a complete list of operating systems as well as how they are ranked, please visit DistroWatch.com.
