I’m seeking a career in Public Relations. Specifically, I would like to do event planning.
I started out at SUNY Plattsburgh majoring in business, but quickly learned that it wasn't for me. Math has never really been a strong subject for me so I decided this major wasn't the best choice. Then I took a few classes in marketing but didn't love it. After countless meetings with my adviser, and taking a few classes, I finally declared as a PR major and couldn't be happier.
One of the classes I found to be most helpful was Intro to News Writing. I struggled in that class, but by the end I had learned so much. Especially information that can be applied and used in other classes. My professor taught us basic grammer and spelling which should have seemed like common sense, but it was surprising to see how much I actually didn't know or had been wrongly taught.
Most jobs nowadays require you to be able to deal with the public, or at least people on a regular basis. Studying Public Relations at SUNY Plattsburgh has forced me to adapt to change and work better with others.
I attended Plattsburgh High School for all four years of my high school career. I was involved in various activities such as being a member of the varsity volleyball team, Key Club, National Honor Society and the Multicultural Club.
