Public relations is not for everyone, but it is for me. I did not realize this right away. Going into my freshman year at SUNY Plattsburgh, I was originally a computer science major. Everybody who knew me had doubts that I would succeed, but I was determined to prove them wrong. However, after my first year, I realized that computer science is not for everyone, and it is not for me.

Choosing the major just landed into my lap. After working customer service, I learned that I definitely have a way with people. That is what started it. After all, public relations, simply put, means relating to the public. After some thoughts into a new major, PR kept coming back to me. So I decided to make the change.

Now with some experience under my belt, I have found that PR is where I want to be. Being in Public Relations Student Society of America, has allowed me the opportunity to do event planning and moderating, providing comfort with public speaking. Cardinal PR has given me the opportunity to learn about campaigns, from research, writing and even actual implementation. Being exposed to these experiences gives me the confidence that while PR is not for everyone, it is for me.

As for my future in the field, I am interested in learning more about medicine PR and health communications. These fields are important to both the public and myself. It would allow me to make a difference not just by being a doctor, but by doing what I love, public relations.
