My philosophy as an educator is that classrooms should be a bit more student-oriented. I plan on often having class discussions and believe that every student should have a chance to be heard. I believe that one of the most important aspects of a social studies classroom is to create a classroom of critical thinkers. Critical thinking is essential not only in the classroom, but in everyday life. In today’s world were information is everywhere it is important for everyone to know how to evaluate their sources. Also it is important for student to recognize that there are many different perspectives that one can take when it comes to history and for the students to understand and consider all of them. I plan on using primary sources often in my classroom. I think that it can be very beneficial for students to be critical about sources from the past.
